In this paper I have examined how the structure of society affects the characters in the movies of Gus Van Sant, and what there is that characterizes Van Sant as an auteur. I have also looked at the thematics and how the characters develop throughout from his first movie Mala Noche (US 1985) until one of his latest Milk (US 2008). Van Sant is open with his Homosexuality and those perspectives are of major importance for this study. He presents how his characters try to live a normal life in a society that is not made for them. I have chosen to analyze five different movies.

In this paper, I have examined if and how Saul Bass adapts his title sequences to the respective film in the matter of genre, plot, milieu, feeling and appearance. Saul Bass was really a graphic artist who has made himself a long career in film production, foremost as a creator of title sequences. Of all the films Bass has created title sequences to, I?ve chosen six films, whose title sequences I analyse more thoroughly. I do this to point out the differences between them and thus also show how Bass adapt them to the individual work.

Roy Andersson har med sina filmer intresserat och fascinerat många åskådare genom åren, kanske framförallt på grund av filmernas särpräglade komposition och bildspråk. Här arbetar han gränsöverskridande med orörlig kamera, långa tagningar och djupfokus. Själv står han med övertygelsen att en enda bild kan berätta så mycket mer, och därmed göra allt användande av flera bilder direkt överflödigt. Det filmiska grepp som Roy Andersson använder sig av grundar sig på vad han själv kallar för den komplexa bilden inom filmteorin. The gap between practise and theory is often described in negative words in teachers? professional lives. Learning study is a model for teachers´ professional development where a theoretical framework is used to enhance practice. The theoretical framework used by teachers in learning study is variation theory. In this study the research object is variation theory and the aim is to present how variation theory becomes a guiding principle to understand teaching and learning processes.

This master thesis concerns whether Swedish non-financial listed firms act in accordance with the optimal capital structure theory and/or pecking order theory. The examined period is 1998-2004 and we discover that Swedish companies neither follow optimal capital structure theory nor pecking order theory. From our results we conclude that there exists no single point of the capital structure which is optimal. Rather it seems as if the optimal point lies in-between an interval from 0 to the industry average, where firms tend to be indifferent to their debt-ratios. Our results show that Swedish companies prefer internal financing followed by equity and as last choice debt issuance..

I present different views on the theory's place in the discourse, its relevance for unconventional wars followed by the analyses of above mentioned empirical situation.Particular interest is given the criteria concerning proportionality, both ad bellum and in bello, due to in part its difficult nature, and the attention it has received from others. This paper asks the question: Is the just war theory adequate for analysis of modern war?There are few alternatives.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om förskollärare använder sig av några strategier för att hjälpa barn med samspelssvårigheter in i lek, och att upprätthålla lek. Jag ville därför också se om, och i sådana fall hur, de kommer till slutsatsen att ett barn har samspelssvårigheter.  De  metoder  som  valdes  för  arbetet  var  en  webbenkät,  intervjuer av  sex  förskollärare  och  av två  specialpedagoger.  För  att  komplettera  data  samlades  och  analyserades  också  de strukturerade underlag som de intervjuade förskollärarna beskrev att de använde sig av i sina respektive verksamheter för observation, dokumentation och reflektion.  Slutsatsen  är  att  det  finns  flera  strategier  representerade  bland  de  intervjuade  som  syftar  till att, på ett eller annat sätt, hjälpa barn till bättre samspel och lek. Bland flera finns till exempel strategier  som  bygger  på  att  förskolläraren  tolkar  och  tydliggör  samspelets  mekanismer, arrangerar  tillfällen  för mindre  sociala  sammanhang  och  verkar  för  tydlighet  och  trygghet  i förskolan.

Adam Smith?s economic theory is often subject to criticism, in which it is claimed to be inherently inconsistent. Recently, criticism from well-known scholars has arisen claiming Smith should be characterized a labor value theorist anticipating Karl Marx. This study seeks to analyze whether such criticism is legitimate. Firstly, the economic theory of Smith is discussed in terms of consistency, and secondly, a number of typical and main points of the critique, from the most influential of his contemporary critics, are lifted up and analyzed.

A new theory for predicting the windprofile over a canopy has been evaluated. The theory was first presented by Harman and Finnigan (2007). The theory relies on the forming of a mixing-layer above the canopy, due to different mean wind in and above the canopy. Characteristics from both mixing-layer and Monin Obukhov similarity theory have been used to develop the governingequations that give the wind profile. The theory has been used to calculate wind profiles for sixdifferent atmospheric stabilities.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka serier som en adekvat bärare av kunskap och därför ett möjligt didaktiskt instrument för att utveckla elevers lässtrategier i svenskämnet på högstadiet. Uppsatsen redogör för seriens definition och samhälleliga status samt möjligheter kopplade till genrens plats i skolan. Fokus ligger på serier som faller under kategorin grafiska romaner, vilka är omfattande serieverk som berättar en viktig historia. Stand-alone-stories och auteur är även viktiga begrepp eftersom de in- nefattar serier som inte är massproducerade och där serieskaparen är ansvarig för hela den kreativa processen. För att nå en djupare förståelse för serier innehåller serien ett analysinstrument baserat på semiotik.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to analyse the reading- and writing-approaches: the LTG-method and the whole language-theory. The attention is to perform a comparative literate-study to distinguish their similarities and differences, and examine which one of the approaches that is most clearly anchored in the syllabus of the subject Swedish. The starting-point of the study is the questions: Which similarities respectively differences have the LTG-method and the whole language-theory? Which one of these theories is most clearly anchored in the syllabus of the subject Swedish? The study has shown that both the whole language-theory and the LTG-method can anchor in the syllabus for Swedish. However the whole language-theory has stronger hold in the syllabus, as the whole language emphasises the meaning of literature for reading- and writing-learning, and considers the pupils reflection during their learning-process and conquered knowledge-goal.

In this essay I want to investigate how the poodle strategy affects a person?s credibility when he or she uses it. The poodle strategy is a strategy, which someone uses when he or she is scrutinized by the media. It?s primary purpose is to suppress further media coverage but it is also a strategy for defending oneself and hence rescuing one?s reputation either as a private person or as an official.The essay?s research questions are:How has the strategy been applied for defensive purposes and what are the results?To which extent can the Stasis theory and Benoit?s theory on Apologia be connected to the strategy?Does the strategy affect the user?s credibility?To answer these questions four cases from the political sphere in Sweden where persons have been said to have ?done a poodle? have been analyzed.
